<p>This week we studied the <strong>water cycle</strong> in depth. We learned that water on Earth is always moving in a never-ending loop called a cycle. The four main stages are <strong>evaporation</strong>, <strong>condensation</strong>, <strong>precipitation</strong>, and <strong>collection</strong>. The sun provides the energy that makes this cycle happen. Without the sun's heat, water would not evaporate, clouds would not form, and rain would not fall.</p>
<p>We explored different types of <strong>precipitation</strong>. Rain is the most common type of precipitation and falls as liquid water. Snow falls when the air is freezing cold and water freezes into ice crystals before reaching the ground. Sleet is rain that freezes into ice pellets as it falls through cold air. Hail forms inside strong storm clouds when water freezes into balls of ice that bounce up and down, growing larger each time.</p>
<p>We conducted a <strong>water cycle in a bag</strong> experiment to see the water cycle in action. We learned that the sun warms water, causing evaporation. Water vapor rises and cools, causing condensation on the plastic. Water droplets grow larger and fall, showing precipitation. We also acted out the water cycle and drew detailed diagrams. Understanding the water cycle helps us understand weather, plant growth, and where our drinking water comes from.</p>
