Ecosystem Review: Who Needs Who?

Week 18 • Friday • Life Science

📖 Reading Time

This week we learned about ecosystems. An ecosystem is a habitat plus all its living and non-living parts. Plants are producers. They make their own food using sunlight. Animals are consumers. They eat plants or other animals.

Everything in an ecosystem is connected, like a big web. The grass needs sun, soil, and rain. The rabbit needs the grass. The fox needs the rabbit. If one part changes, all the parts feel it.

You even built a tiny ecosystem in a jar! Your terrarium shows how plants, soil, water, air, and light all work together.

✏️ Review Questions

1. What two kinds of parts make up an ecosystem?

2. What do producers do?

3. What do consumers do?

4. Name the parts of your terrarium ecosystem.

📝 Vocabulary Review

Match each word to an example from this week.

The Connection Web

Week 18 • Friday • Page 2

🔍 Who Needs Who? Connection Web

Draw lines to connect things that need each other. One thing can have many lines! Write on each line WHY they are connected.

✏️ True or False

🧠 What Happens If...?

1. What happens to the rabbits if all the grass dies?

2. What happens to the flowers if all the bees go away?

3. What happens to birds if all the trees are cut down?

Ecosystem Drawing Challenge

Week 18 • Friday • Page 3

🎨 Drawing Challenge

Draw a complete ecosystem. Include at least: 2 producers, 2 consumers, and 3 non-living things. Label everything!

📓 Science Journal

Explain to a friend why everything in an ecosystem is connected. Use an example.
