<p><strong>Abraham Lincoln</strong> was born in 1809 in a tiny log cabin in Kentucky. His family was poor, and Abe worked hard on the farm from the time he was small.</p>
<p>Abe went to school for less than one year in his whole life! But he taught himself by reading every book he could find. He would walk miles to borrow a book and read by the light of the fireplace at night.</p>
<p>Abe grew very tall — six feet four inches — and very honest. People called him <strong>Honest Abe</strong>. He became a lawyer, then a leader, and in 1861, the sixteenth president of the United States. This week you will learn how this log-cabin boy changed America.</p>
