â€Ē That there were hundreds of different Native American nations
â€Ē How land and weather shaped each tribe's way of life
â€Ē The names of tribes from different regions
â€Ē Why we should never say all tribes were the same

📖 Reading Time

Long before explorers arrived, North America was home to hundreds of Native American nations, also called tribes. Each nation had its own name, its own language, its own leaders, and its own way of life.

The Haudenosaunee lived in the eastern forests. The Lakota lived on the wide grassy plains. The Hopi lived in the dry desert Southwest. The Tlingit lived by the foggy northwest coast, and many more nations lived everywhere in between.

Here is the most important thing to remember: Native American tribes were all different from each other — as different as countries are today! This week we will explore that amazing diversity.
