<p>Did the Vikings write? Yes! They used special letters called <strong>runes</strong>. Runes were made of straight lines because they were carved into hard things like wood, bone, and stone. Curvy letters are hard to carve, but straight lines are easy!</p>
<p>Vikings carved runes on big rocks called <strong>runestones</strong> to remember brave people and great voyages. Some runestones still stand today, over a thousand years later.</p>
<p>Vikings were also great <strong>crafters</strong>. They carved wood, wove cloth, and made beautiful jewelry and strong tools. Today, you will try writing with runes and making Viking crafts yourself!</p>
