<p>Roman <strong>roads</strong> — about 50,000 miles of them — were built in layers and ran straight across the empire. <strong>Aqueducts</strong> carried fresh water for miles using only gravity, crossing valleys on tall arched bridges.</p>

<p>And the mighty <strong>Colosseum</strong> held 50,000 fans, with 80 entrances and a pull-over cloth roof — the great-great-grandparent of every stadium today. Roman engineers proved that with clever ideas and hard work, you can build things that last for thousands of years!</p>
