<p>Ready, set, review! This week we traveled to Olympia, where the first recorded Olympic Games were held in 776 BC to honor Zeus. City-states even paused their wars with a truce so athletes could travel safely.</p>
<p>We learned the events: the stade running race, wrestling, javelin, discus, the five-event pentathlon, and the wild chariot races. Winners received olive-leaf crowns and became famous heroes back home.</p>
<p>We saw that the games came back in 1896 in Athens and grew into today's Olympics, with athletes from over 200 countries, medals, the torch relay from Olympia, and winter sports too. The Olympic spirit — training hard and playing fair — is 2,800 years old and still going strong!</p>
