πΊοΈ Geography and You

Week 6 • Thursday • How Land Shapes the Way We Live

π Reading Time

Here is a big idea: the land around us shapes how we live. In Egypt, the river made people farmers. In Greece, mountains and sea made people sailors and traders. This study of land, water, and how people live with them is called geography.

Think about YOUR home. Is it flat or hilly? Hot or cold? Near water or far from it? People near oceans often fish and sail. People on flat plains often farm. People in cold places build warm houses and wear heavy coats.

Geography still shapes us today β what we eat, the jobs people do, and how we travel. Next time you ride in a car, look out the window like a geographer. Ask: how does this land shape the people who live here?
