This week we learned about leaves and flowers. Now let us review everything about plant parts together!
A plant has four main parts: roots, stems, leaves, and flowers. Roots hold the plant in the ground and soak up water. Stems carry water from the roots to the leaves and hold the plant up. Leaves catch sunlight to make food for the whole plant. Flowers make seeds that can grow into brand new plants.
All four parts work together. Without roots, the plant has no water. Without stems, the water cannot travel. Without leaves, the plant has no food. Without flowers, the plant cannot make new babies. A plant needs all four parts to stay healthy and grow.
1. Name all four main parts of a plant.
2. Why do plants need all four parts?
3. What would happen if a plant had no leaves?
4. How do roots and stems work together? Explain.
Write a definition or draw a picture for each word.
