This week we met the mighty pharaohs — the kings and queens of ancient Egypt! Pharaohs wore the double crown, carried the crook and flail, and ruled the whole land. We met Hatshepsut, Ramses II, and young King Tut.
We learned how the pyramids were built as tombs for the pharaohs. The Great Pyramid of Giza took more than 2 million stone blocks! Workers floated stones down the Nile and dragged them up ramps on sleds.
We also discovered how Howard Carter found King Tut's hidden tomb in 1922, full of golden treasures. And we compared pharaohs to leaders today — pharaohs ruled for life, but today many people vote for their leaders.
