Short vowels are the sounds a, e, i, o, u make in one-syllable words. Read each word carefully -- the vowel says its SHORT sound.
- Short a as in basket /ba/
- Short e as in elephant /e/
- Short i as in kitten /i/
- Short o as in rabbit /o/
- Short u as in bubble /u/

Every sentence starts with a CAPITAL LETTER and ends with a PERIOD (.), QUESTION MARK (?), or EXCLAMATION POINT (!).
